Cleckheaton Dominate Second Half

Cleckheaton continue their good home form with this success over New Brighton and rise up to ninth in the table whilst New Brighton remain second bottom eight points form safety.

New Brighton went into an 11-0 lead when No 8 Kati Tuipulotu went over for a try in the first minute and Stephen Dean after missing the conversion slotted over a couple of penalty goals.

It took the home side till the 22nd minute to get off the mark with Chris Quinn putting over a penalty goal. They managed to get across the visitors line on 40 minutes when second row Oliver Hawkins went in and Quinn converted to go in a point down.

In the second half Quinn kicked an early penalty goal to give the home side the lead and on 49 minutes went further ahead with centre Neil Murray touching down and Quinn again on target. Quinn kicked another penalty goal and when full back Ian Gordon went over on the hour mark and Quinn converted the home side were 30-11 ahead.

Five minutes later and the bonus point was in the bag when flanker Lance Hamilton scored and Quinn again converted to make it seven out of seven for the afternoon.

The visitors did manage another score with Tuipulotu completing a double but the home side were home and dry by them.
