Weakend New Brighton 2nds Beaten by Powerful Preston Grasshoppers 2nd XV

Preston Grasshoppers are currently a very strong Club indeed and big wins over the two senior New Brighton sides on Saturday show them to be very strong in depth. To keep this defeat in context, the Preston Grasshoppers Second XV have averaged over 50 points scored in the five games played with one walk over and are second to Waterloo in the League, who have played all six games, on a narrow points difference.

With a number of players unavailable, the New Brighton side included a number of promising young players who, though unable to cope with the physical power of the opposition, should learn from the experience and not be too despondent with the result.

The half time score was 34 points but in the second period Preston rampaged through a very tired and demoralised New Brighton to score a further 74 points.
