| New Brighton Reorganisation Coming Together. | |
The changes in personnel in the Club's playing strength has caused some inevitable disruption and although both the 1st XV and the 2's have lost both the opening games of the season there are clear signs that things are coming together quite effectively. Saturday's game against Caldy was a massively improved performance from last week. New faces Mark McKeon and Kenny Harris both had very satisfactory debuts, Sean Smith played well and is concentrating on improving his scrummaging skills at prop and Kyle Hesketh was outstanding in defence. Caldy ran in three tries in the first half, all the result of errors by the Blues, one try being from an interception. But for poor finishing, New Brighton would have had some scores on the board as there was not a lot between the two sides. Half Time Score: New Brighton 2nd 0 - 21 Caldy 2nd Defences were on top in the second half with neither side crossing the line but Caldy improved their score with a drop goal. Replacements Kevin Pollard and Mike Gazzola came on in the second half and Sean Williams played the last quarter. Full Time Score: New Brighton 2nd 0 - 24 Caldy 2nd
