New Brighton Unable to Hold Powerful Caldy

New Brighton went down to a well organised Caldy side on Saturday giving Caldy the double in this season's campaign. The Blues with a relatively young side, some playing in positions forced by necesity rather than choice, were out muscled by a more mature streetwise team whose game was centered around a solid pack with some very capable ball carriers. Manager Steve Dakin comments that although there are some talented youngsters in the side they have difficulty co-ordinating as a team for two main reasons.

  1. Many are playing out of position partly due to demands made for filling first team vacancies.
  2. Too few are turning up for the weekly training sessions where a lot of the problems could be sorted out.
All players expecting to be selected for the Second XV should make it their business to turn up for training at the Thursday session at the very minimum.

Substitites Marc Simon, Danny Hayes and Kyle Hesketh came on as replacements.

With both the First Team and the Second's deep in the relegation zone of their respective league competitions there needs to to be some hard work to be done, on and off the field, if we are to avoid a total whitewash.
