JAMES WHITE SIGNS FOR BLUES Savi Nets The Three
Alistair Saverimutto, BBH-New Brighton's enigmatic Director of Rugby, was understandably delighted to announce that James White, Manchester and Cheshire County's No 7, has signed for the Blues. Whites signature completes a hat-trick of acquisitions for the Blues from first division Manchester as James will be joining prop Steve Kelly and second row Richard Bradshaw who have already joined New Brighton for the coming season. Saverimutto said this time last year, I had not even been appointed to the job at Reeds Lane and I was forced into the last minute late summer marketplace to strengthen my squad. This year there are no such problems. We needed to strengthen the pack and with James White, Steve Kelly and Big Richard Bradshaw joining us from Manchester and Phil Gazolla returning to us from a year in Italy we have real quality to add to an already strong squad. We have only one established hooker in Carl Davies and made an offer to Christian Jones to join our front line up. Christian has not come back to us and we must assume that he will not be joining us. We are looking to add another hooker to the squad, but it could be that we will give Phil Buckley from the Academy his senior chance, He was outstanding on tour and we'll see how he shapes up in pre season training." BBH-New Brighton have secured contracts on the majority of last years squad with Marcus Coast and Emrys Evans the main exceptions. Mr. Saverimutto said "Marcus has been given a contract offer. Obviously we would like him with us but in the final analysis it is up to him to accept or reject it. We are lining up another centre should Marcus turn us down." Crowd favourite Emrys Evans is scheduled to be leaving the region for personal reasons. Should the popular Welshman decide to stay he has confirmed that he would be remaining with the Blues. Italian league Lavorno's scrum half, Frederico Geovanie, will be flying in for a visit to Reeds Lane later in the summer to discuss terms for the season. "We need a further option at No 9" said Mr. Saverimutto, "I think Frederico could well fit the bill and add a further dimension to the squad" BENTLEY
